Should I install my own ceiling fan or hire someone?

We know that in 2022, everyone wants to “do it yourself” all their home projects. Maybe this applys to you and you are scouring the internet to see if you can install your own ceiling fan.

Overall, if you are safe with electrical and know how to turn off the power, you have a newer built home, and have access to youtube, you can probably install your own fan. You probably thought I wanted to get the service call and tell you to hire me, huh? Nope! Not here, I am all about saving money when it can be done safely and correctly.

So the question remains, when should I hire someone to install my ceiling fan?

1. If you currently have a light or no existing overhead electrical, you should call an electrician.

2. You don’t know how to check the rating of your existing electrical box.

3. You need a new switch installed at the wall.

4. The fan you purchased is complex to assemble or heavy

-Not using an electrical box that can handle the weight of the fan

-Not connecting the correct wires

-Not making secure connections

-Tripping the breaker

-Dropping the fan while trying to install causing injury
